Reports of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands

The High Court of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands was established in 1952 with jurisdiction to hear appeals from the District Courts of the Trust Territory, and with original jurisdiction over admiralty cases, adjudication of title to real estate, and felonies. The High Court also had the authority to transfer pending cases from the District Courts and the Community Courts to itself for further proceedings.

Opinions of the High Court are not binding precedent in the CNMI, but serve as useful advisory precedent for CNMI statutes adapted from Trust Territory statutes, and contain important information about the customs and traditions of the peoples of Micronesia.
